Pictures of January 13th

Week of January 13th

Buenas tardes todos (good afternoon everyone)! I hope you all had a good week. We had pretty good week this week. We were able to find some new investigators this week. One of the investigators we found, Cruz Pelcastre, is pretty interesting. Yesterday we had our first lesson with him, but we could hardly teach because he talked too much, and every time we tried to interupt he talked evene louder. He talked about his religious beliefs, the Virgen Mary, the "Spiritul Doctor" that he takes his kids to to heal them, etc. So we have a lot of work to do with him.

The other day, we and the other missionaries in the ward helped some people clean a pig pen. All we did was shovel poop, then we dug a hole in poop-mud. But they fed us breakfast so it´s alright, its always worth it to serve others.

The last couple weeks we have been doing an English class to find new people to teach. It´s fun teaching English but the only people that show up are children that are already members of the church. The class really is just a game of "¿Como se dice...?" ("How do you say...?") and then they tell us the word that they want to learn. So hopefully something comes of this class. Hopefully somebody that we have invited shows up other than just the church primary.

Time is starting to go super fast for me, it´s wierd. Everyday passes by slowly, but the weeks and months go by fast. I feel like Elder Garrido has been my companion for a week or two, but it has been a little over a month already. What the others missioanaries say is that the more time i have been in the mission, the faster it goes by. So I gotta make every second count. Kannon: Make every second count too. If you dont prepare now, you will have to do everything that you should have done to prepare, in the first few weeks of the mission. But I know that the Lord will make you a great missionary and will help you overcome your weaknesses as He has with mine.

I love you all so much! Thank you all for the support and the letters! I hope that you guys are learning to work in unity with the missionaries of the branch. Right now I am learning how to work with the members and trying to encouraging them to do more.

Until next week!

Pictures for week of January 6th

week of January 6th

Hello and Happ New years!
I hope that you guys had a great time in glamis without me! This new years for us in Mexico was a little different. Here, the people just played loud music and lighted loud fireworks all night while we tried to sleep. But we ate pretty good that day (I atatched a photo of us 4 missionaries). Other than that, nothing really happened this week that was out of the ordinary.
We started teaching some people of the religion of the 7th Day adventists, and it´s pretty interesting. Their religion is based off the fact that on the 7th day (Saturday) God rested, not on Sunday. We can explain very clearly why we worship on Sunday, but until they ask God about it, they won´t be able to accept it. God is willing to show all people the truth, but only those that look and ask will find it.

While I was talking with Kannon on Skype two weeks ago, we talked a little bit about what he was doing to prepare for his mission. We agreed that he needs practicing teaching. What I decided (Kannon didn´t agree with this part), was that he could teach for 30 minutes for family night every other week (more than just a spiritual thought). I was thinking that he could start teaching the first missionary lesson, the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So what do guys say? What other things is Kannon doing to prepare? Kannon:Many people in that enter the mission field have a super hard time adjusting to the missionary life because they didn´t prepare before. It will be alot easier to do it now than later... But you are going to be a great missionary!
Thank you all for the letters this week! I love you all and hope that you have a great new year!
Hasta la próxima semana!

Pictures from week of December 30th

Week of December 30

Hola and Happy New years (almost). It was great chatting with all of you on Wednesday! I´m glad that all is well at home, and that Kannon finally went on a date! I attached some photos of what did on Christmas Eve at night. We baked a cake with Santa (a missionary with a santa beard) and one the families in the ward. It was fun and the cake tasted good. On Christmas all we did was talk with our families, eat dinner with a some members, and then visited some people. It´s a cool experience being able to teach others about Christ on Christmas!

This week we found a new family to teach. Arturo, Argelia, and their 5 kids. They seem like pretty good people. One of the recent converts in the ward introduced them to us and they decided that they would like to listen to us. We are going to see how it goes with them... I just hope that they are married, because the people here tend to live in "Free union", living like a married couple but without legal marriage.

Well, I really don`t have much more to say... not a lot has happened since Wednesday. But I love you all. Kannon better be preparing for his mission, or he is going to regret it later. Thank you all for the support and encouragement! Keep Being a great family! Jesus Christ Lives and His church has been restored to the earth!

Until next week,
Love,
Elder Davis
